Corner lounges: how to pick the shape, the recliners and the bed

A corner lounge has two lengths, not one. Each length sits against its own wall, and each one has to leave you a way to walk past it.

Start with those two numbers. Then ask two more questions: do you want seats that recline, and do you want a bed for guests? Below, in that order, then every indoor corner lounge we have in stock, with both lengths and the price.

Start with the two lengths

A listing gives the size as width by depth. On an L, those are the two arms. The Jersey is 317 × 286 cm. That means 317 cm along one wall and 286 cm along the other.

Now look at what each wall has to do besides hold the lounge.

  • A door or a hallway. We leave about 90 cm of clear floor for a path people walk every day. If the short arm of the Jersey ends near a doorway, that wall needs about 286 + 90 = 376 cm.
  • A window. The backs of our corner lounges stand 81.5 to 104 cm high. Check the sill height before you push the long arm under a window.

In front of the seats, leave about 40 cm to the coffee table. That is close enough to reach a cup, with room for knees. Add it to the room depth you need.

Our product pages give the maker's overall size. That size takes in the arms and cushions, so plan with it.

Which side the chaise goes on

Stand in front of the lounge and look at it: a left-hand facing (LHF) chaise is on your left. Some makers use the seated view instead, so look at the photo before you order.

Here is how ours sit. The Jackson is sold as LHF only, so look at its photo to see where the chaise sits. The Carelli has a reversible chaise, so it suits either side. The Carolina and the Cloud are loose pieces, so you set the long side where your room wants it.

A corner lounge with recliners

A corner lounge with recliners is the movie-night lounge. Every one we have in stock is a 5 seater corner lounge. Before you buy one, find out which seats recline.

The William has a manual recliner at each end. The Robbie and the Dream have an electric recliner at each end. The Jersey has three manual recliners.

Two things catch people out.

The wall gap. A recliner's back moves when it opens. On the William, the Robbie and the Dream, our pages say to leave about 30 cm between the recliner ends and the wall. The Jersey's page gives no figure, so we would leave the same 30 cm. Add that gap to both lengths when you measure the room.

The power point. An electric recliner plugs in. The Robbie and the Dream need a power point within reach of the end seats. The Robbie's end seats also carry USB charging ports.

Each recliner seat on the William is rated to 120 kg. Its recliner mechanism has its own 1-year warranty, on top of 5 years on the frame.

A corner lounge with a sofa bed

A corner lounge with a bed turns the living room into a spare room for a night. Three of ours have a pull-out bed, and they do it in two ways.

On the Positano, the chaise pulls out into the bed. On the Jackson, the two-seater converts into the bed. The Brighton has a pull-out bed too. All three have storage: the Brighton and the Jackson in the chaise and the ottoman, the Positano in its ottoman.

The Carelli's description mentions a sofa bed, but its list of features names only the chaise. Ask us before you count on a bed in it.

A bed needs floor in front of it. On the Positano and the Brighton, leave room in front of the chaise for the bed to pull out. Our pages do not give the open bed size. If a tall guest will sleep on it, call us on 02 9790 2588 and we will tell you.

Corner modular lounges

A modular corner lounge comes as separate pieces, so each one goes through the door and up the stairs on its own. The Hastings and the Cloud also line up as a straight sofa; the Hastings then fills a 4.4 m wall. For lifts and stairs, see our guide to getting furniture into an apartment, and for more shapes, our modular lounges page.

Our corner lounges, in stock

These are the indoor corner lounges in stock as of 31 October 2026, cheapest first, at the price listed that day. All of them are fabric; our leather corner lounges, such as the Simoca with recliners, are on pre-order. Sizes are the maker's overall sizes, width × depth. Where a lounge comes in two colours, the price and size are for the colour in stock.

Every lounge here except the Carelli has a 5-year frame warranty and 3 years on the foam and springs. The Carelli carries 12 months.

Three to start with

Short of space: the Positano, 262 × 222 cm, with a pull-out bed and a storage ottoman, for $2,424.

For movie nights: the William in Tan at $2,771, two recliners with no power lead to hide. The Jersey costs the same in Jet. Pick it if you want three recliners and a footprint you know to the centimetre, 317 × 286 cm.

For a big room: the Carolina, 412 cm along the long wall, for $2,969.

Getting it home

In Sydney, our removalists bring the lounge, message you the day before, and can put it together in the room. Outside Sydney, regional and interstate orders travel on a pallet. The details are on our delivery page.

Our Sydney showroom is at 590 Hume Hwy, Yagoona NSW 2199. Visit us there, or see every shape, including the pre-order lounges, on our corner lounges page.
